‘War Horse’ Matt Milne joins ‘Downton Abbey’ (He’ll play a footman and O’Brien’s nephew!)

Matt Milne has signed up for a role in the third series of Downton Abbey.

The actor, who recently played Andrew in the movie War Horse, is joining the cast as a footman called Alfred.

Alfred is also the nephew of O’Brien (Siobhan Finneran), Digital Spy has learned.

As well as appearing in War Horse, Milne will star as Agathon in the upcoming movie Wrath of the Titans.

Oscar-nominated actress Shirley MacLaine has already signed up for a role in the new series ofDownton Abbey and will play the mother of Lady Grantham (Elizabeth McGovern).

Downton Abbey is expected to return with a new series on ITV later this year.
